About Final Fantasy V Advance Font Facelift

Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)

Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.

Final Fantasy V Advance European Font Facelift v0.1 (Dec 2 2018) ==================================================================================================== Disclaimer ========== - No ownership is claimed by vivify93 over Final Fantasy V Advance or the franchise from which it originates. - Apply this patch only to "Final Fantasy V Advance (E) (Eternity).gba". - Send bug reports to vivify93 via PM on ROMhacking.net. - If a modder wishes to use this in their project, they are asked to please credit vivify93. - Players are encouraged to keep a backup of their original ROM or project in case an error occurs. The European version of FFV Advance has a couple of bug fixes compared to its US cousin; the main attraction is the "Return/Timer" fix. If you're in a battle with a timer and cast the Time Magic Return, the timer won't be reset in the US version. However, this was fixed in the European release, and as of this writing hasn't been back-ported to the US release. Just like my FFVI Advance project, I chose to release this two-patch package for readability purposes. One patch improves the font while keeping it slim, and another widens it in the vein of the US version for readability. Consider combining this patch with Bregalad's Sound Restoration mod. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/563/ There are 2 patches contained in this archive. Choose 1 of the following. - FFVA_EUfontlift_SLIMv0-1.ips: Has a better-looking font that preserves the width of the retail European GBA version. All five languages will be perfectly readable. - FFVA_EUfontlift_THICKv0-1.ips: Widens most of the lowercase letters, giving it a feel more like the US release. There will be spillover issues with the four non-English languages. ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Overview ======== - There are 2 patches: one that slightly widens the 8x8 font, and one that merely beautifies it while keeping it the same width. - The broadsword and hammer icons have been improved. - Continuity errors fixed in the Music Player. - For the dialogue font, both the inverted and upright question and excalmation marks have been thinned, like in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Changelog ========= v0.1 - Modified the menu font to look more like the one used in the US release. It’s still the same size, just prettier. The Music Player font followed suit. - Made a thicker variant of the menu font; the Music Player font is still its original width in this patch. There will be two patches. - In both patches, replaced the white mallet icon with FFIV's hammer icon. - In both patches, embellished the broadsword icon so it's more distinguishable from the longsword icon. - In both patches, thinned the exclamation and question marks (As well as the inverted ones) in the dialogue font. - In both patches, changed the names of a few music tracks. (Reina’s Theme > Lenna’s Theme X-Death’s Castle > Exdeath’s Castle The Evil Lord X-Death > The Evil Lord Exdeath) ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Credits ======= - Stealth Translations: Windhex32 - HoRRoR: Square Enix Remakes Font Editor - Dragonsbrethren: Supplied values for Square Enix Remakes Font Editor - Square Enix …and all you Final Fantasy fans out there! ====================================================================================================
