About Final Fantasy Font Options

Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)

Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.

Final Fantasy Font Options v2.0 By Rodimus Primal ----------------------------------------------------------------------- There are many hacks for the first NES Final Fantasy. Some consider two of them to be the definitive versions of the game. The first is AstralEsper's Final Fantasy Restored. The next is Grond's Final Fantasy. The font used, however, is difficult to look at to many. To give people the choice as to which font they'd prefer, this font package was made. With this, for whichever one is your NES version of Final Fantasy, you have the choice of the original NES font used, the Final Fantasy IV font (USFFII), or the font for Final Fantasy VI (USFFIII). You can also use these fonts on vanilla Final Fantasy. Also if you found the shadow on Restored and Grond's hacks difficult to see on a CRT, a No Shadow patch is included as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Included in this package: - Final Fantasy Restored (Original Font).ips - Final Fantasy Restored (FFIV Font).ips - Final Fantasy Restored (FFVI Font).ips - Final Fantasy Restored (No Shadow Font).ips - Grond's Final Fantasy (Original Font).ips - Grond's Final Fantasy (FFIV Font).ips - Grond's Final Fantasy (FFVI Font).ips - Grond's Final Fantasy (No Shadow Font).ips - Final Fantasy (FFIV Font).ips - Final Fantasy (FFVI Font).ips - Final Fantasy Font Options Readme Instructions: -vanilla Final Fantasy: Take a Final Fantasy (U) (!) ROM and use Lunar IPS to apply one of the patches in the Final Fantasy I NES folder for the font of your choice. -Final Fantasy Restored: Take a Final Fantasy (U) (!) ROM prepatched with AstralEsper's Final Fantasy Restored. Use Lunar IPS to apply the patch to the ROM. Use one of the patches in the Final Fantasy Restored folder for the font of your choice. I cannot tell you where to get a ROM, but the original hack can be downloaded here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1631 The original, unmodified ROM should be patched before applying the restored patch. Final Fantasy Restored can be patched using Lunar IPS as the patch is in .IPS format. -Grond's Final Fantasy: Take a Final Fantasy (U) (!) ROM prepatched with Grond's Final Fantasy. Use Lunar IPS to apply the patch to the ROM. Use one of the patches in the Grond's Final Fantasy folder for the font of your choice. Again, I cannot tell you where to get a ROM, but the original can be downdloaded here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/652 The original, unmodified ROM should be patched before applying the restored patch. However, Grond's Final Fantasy patch is in a different format, .bps. To apply his hack to an unaltered ROM, you will need to download the beat utility to patch it. That can be downloaded here: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/893 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special thanks to all the folks in the ROM Hacking community that go out of their way to improve upon older games that many of us have come to know and love. Thanks to AstralEsper,Alex W Jackson, Anomie, Disch, Grond, Lenophis, Leviathan Mist, Mighty Collector, Paulygon, x_loto, Zzonkmiles, Captain Muscles, Goongyae, Karatorian, and Bregalad for their hard work and efforts for both versions of the NES classic.
